Job DescriptionOverall Purpose of Job:• Responsible for the management and coordination of all production floor operations includingsafety and morale of employees, molding and assembly operations, housekeeping and equipmentand building maintenance consistent to improve the plant’s performance in safety, cost, delivery,quality.• This position oversees the receipt and movement of released product to all necessaryproduction, inspection, and test areas as subassemblies or end items manufactured.• The incumbent of this position is accoun for the overall production plan delivery, provides inputto shipment schedules, plans and forecasts as knowledge of production status develops. Identifiesany bottlenecks in the production flow and ensures that necessary labor, material, or support isapplied to relieve the bottleneck applying lean manufacturing systemsMajor Responsibilities: • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations to maximize the return on assetsemployed. Develop and accomplish actions which minimize manufacturing costs through effectiveutilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.• Implement Manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the operations supportsLean Practices (PMA, 5’s, Problem Solving, Lean Line Design, etc.)• Establish group and individual accountabilities within his departments and collaborate withother areas for problem solving and cost reduction.• Over sees production control activities, (General production output, scrap reporting, shop orderreconciliation, etc.) which ensures material flow through production in support of the productionplans to satisfy business goals and customer demands.• Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the department and review withOperations Manager. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to recommendpersonnel in order to ensure the highest level of skill & knowledge necessary to meet companyneeds and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the department.• Support Industrial Engineering in launch of new programs following the GDPIM process.• Support LPO in new projects from the plant perspective to meet customer & budgetrequirements and transitioning them into the operations.• Develops and implements methods to improve productivity within established payroll andexpense budgets.• Identifies needed labor continuously and ensures that necessary effort is applied in productionarea to ensure correct flow of product to meet production schedule.• Ensures compliance to HS&E policies & procedures by manufacturing personnelJob Requirements & Qualifications:Key Competencies:Must possess business acumen and leadership skillsMust have well developed interpersonal and communication skills, aswell as goal setting and people management skills.Must demonstrate creativity, adaptability and flexibility.Must be adept at conceptualizing business solutions and presentingconcepts to senior management.Must be a Change AgentMust be experienced in scrap control and reduction and a QualityChampion.Must be Lean Systems knowledgeable and know how to put into practice(5S, problem solving techniques, tpm, Kan Ban, Yokoten, value streammapping, visual management, cell concept)Must be experienced in scheduling adherence (% of compliance of theproduction plan)High energy level required in order to lead a 24/7 manufacturingoperation schedule and to develop input and decision making as part ofthe escalation processEducation and Experience:• Degree in Plastics Technology orIndustrial or Manufacturing Engineering with extensive technical andsupervisory background in a high volume plastic injection moldingoperation.• Minimum of 10 years supervisoryexperience in manufacturing management or related field.• Knowledge of planning, budgeting andoperations in a production environment.• Full knowledge of ManufacturingRequirements Planning (MRP) is required. Also procedural knowledge andgood people-management skills. Technical background in the automotive industry highlydesirable. Experience in implementing 5S, Six Sigma and Black BeltinitiativesVisa Requirements: U.S. Citizens / Green Card Holder Additional InformationContact Person: Rachel F
